MoU between Pravara, Agri and Allied Colleges and NRCP, Solapur for students research

National Research Center on Pomegranate, Solapur signed a memorandum of understanding with Pravara Rural Education Society's Agriculture and Allied Colleges. College of Agri. Biotechnology, College of Agri. Business Management and College of Agriculture of Pravara Rural Education Society are affiliated to Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri. Dr. M. B. Khetmalas, Director (Education), Agri. and Allied Colleges, Loni informed that through this MoU students will have accessibility to work with scientists of NRCP for their final year research project. Dr. Khetmalas further added that the area under pomegranate and production will keep increasing and it is need of time for value addition in pomegranate for better returns to the farmers.  Dr. Jotsna Sharma acting director encouraged Agri and Allied Colleges of Pravara for this new beginning under PPP model. Dr. Jostana Sharma informed that resistance source against 'Telya Rog (bacterial blight) is not available, therefore, advised to make use of enough organic supplements for effective management of disease. Director, NRCP appreciated Pravara for taking efforts in pomegranate research as it is important horticultural fruit crop in dry areas of Ahmednagar and Solapur. Dr. Nilesh Gaikwad, Senior Scientist, and Processing Engineer informed about the value addition is possible through the pomegranate-derived products such as wine, candried arils, carbonated beverages, anardana, juice, biscuits etc. The tenure of the MoU is for five years.
